This May Bank Holiday, a team from The MGroup will be swapping calculators for crampons as we take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in aid of SeeSaw Oxford, an incredible local charity supporting children and young people who are dealing with the death of a loved one.

The MGroup 3 peak challenge

We’ll be lacing up our walking boots and heading out early on Saturday 3rd May, aiming to complete the iconic route in 12 hours. That’s three peaks, 24 miles (or 39km), and over 1700 metres of climbing—all in a day’s work!

Why We’re Doing It

We chose to support SeeSaw because of the vital role they play in our community. Grief can be an overwhelming and isolating experience, especially for young people, and SeeSaw offers practical and emotional support at a time when families need it most.

If you’d like to support us (and them!), we’d be so grateful for any donations via our JustGiving page, you’ll find the link in the comments section of our social posts too.

Meet the Team & Training Update

We’ll be introducing each team member over the next few weeks, but for now, we can say this: training is well underway! Over the Easter weekend, we all got out for a few long walks, although we’ll admit the routes were a little on the flat side. We’re now looking for some more hilly terrain to test our legs properly before the big day.

Planning the Challenge Weekend

The plan is to travel up to Yorkshire on Friday 2nd May and stay overnight in Long Preston, a pretty village in the heart of the Dales. It’s about 10 miles from our starting point in Horton-in-Ribblesdale, so we’ll be close enough for an early start. (Google calls Long Preston “an attractive Yorkshire Dales village in Ribblesdale,” and we’re holding it to that.)

On Friday night, we’ll be doing what any sensible walkers would, carbo loading, of course! Expect mountains of pasta as we prepare for mountains of the more literal kind.

After the walk, we’ll be staying over again on Saturday night. With a pub located conveniently close to the finish line, the vision of that post-hike pint is definitely fuelling some of our training motivation.

The Route: What Lies Ahead

Here’s a snapshot of what’s in store:

  • 6:30am – Meet at the car park in Horton-in-Ribblesdale (BD24 0HG)

  • 7:00am – Challenge begins

  • 8:30am – Reach the summit of Pen-y-Ghent (694m)

  • 11:00am – Refreshments and reinforcements at Ribblehead

  • 1:00pm – Climb the highest peak, Whernside (736m)

  • 2:00pm – Stop at Philpin Farm for a quick refuel

  • 4:00pm – Final summit: Ingleborough (723m)

  • 7:00pm – Estimated finish back in Horton

It’s a real team effort—no racing or competitive times, just one goal: to finish together and raise as much as we can for SeeSaw.

Stay Tuned!

We’ll be sharing photos from our training walks, updates on our fundraising target, and team stories in the lead-up to the event—so keep an eye on our socials!

Thanks in advance for all your support, it means the world to us and even more to SeeSaw.
